
Addis Ababa (Ethiopia Today) August 20, 2023: Ethiopian Airlines will start manufacturing aircraft parts in a joint venture with US-based Boeing at an initial cost of 15 millionUSD, the flag carrier said in a statement on Friday.
“Ethiopian Airlines Group, Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC), and Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) inked an agreement where Ethiopian Airlines will set up an aerospace parts manufacturing facility on a 4 hectares plot of land at the Kilinto II Industrial Park,” the statement read.
The facility will produce various aerospace internal parts, including aircraft thermo-acoustic insulation blankets, and electrical wire harnesses. These components will be supplied to Boeing, Airbus and an Italian aircraft manufacturing company.
