Addis Ababa( Ethiopia Today) May 31, 2023: The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation have signed a 7.6 million euro agreement to implement a three-year project to support multiple sectors in two Ethiopian regions.
The project’s goal is to improve healthcare services and primary schools’ hygiene infrastructure in Chifra Woreda, Afar region, and Hamer Woreda, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region.
The agreement was signed at the Embassy of Italy in Addis Ababa by Italian Ambassador Agostino Palese and UNOPS Multi-Country Office Director Worknesh Mekonnen.
Officials estimate the project will benefit around 64,000 people by helping the Ethiopian government expand access to education, health, water, and energy for local communities.
The funding is expected to help upgrade health facilities, install new water points, and provide basic equipment for health centers, among other things.
