Addis Ababa (Ethiopia today) May 10, 2023: Vice President of Ethiopia’s leading civil aviation company, Daniel Abebe, and Russian Ambassador Evgeny Terekhin discussed promising areas of mutual cooperation in air transport, as it became known today, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
According to the social media accounts of the Moscow diplomatic mission in Addis Ababa, the leading civil aviation company in Africa is an important tool for developing political, economic, and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
Terekhin recently highlighted the importance of relations between Ethiopia and Russia, reviewing 125 years of time-honored diplomatic ties and cooperation in health, education, peaceful uses of nuclear energy, space flight, and technology in an interview last month with state broadcaster Fana.
He clarified that bilateral ties were boosted after the conversation between Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi on the sidelines of the first Russia-Africa Summit in October 2019, a milestone that paved the way for strengthening multifaceted cooperation.
The parties have signed a wide range of agreements to work in these areas.
He highlighted the opening in Addis Ababa of the office of the Coordinating Committee for Economic Cooperation with Africa, which works to promote trade and investment cooperation.
The relationship of mutual trust, friendship, and sympathy between Ethiopia and Russia is also reflected in the Memorandum of Understanding initialed by the ruling parties of these countries to strengthen cooperation in a wide range of areas, he concluded.
