Addis Ababa (Ethiopia Today), May 7, 2023: Ethiopia has earned over 514 million USD in the last nine months of the fiscal year by exporting more than 215,800 tons of horticulture products to the global market, according to media reports.
Much of the revenue, around 444 million USD came from flower exports, with vegetable and fruit exports generating 57 million USD and 13.3 million USD, respectively.
The Ministry’s plan for the period was to earn 428.6 million USD from flower exports, 93.4 million USD from vegetable exports, and 27.7 million USD from fruit exports. The actual performance reached 94% of revenue and 57% of quantity.
Although the quantity of horticulture exports decreased by 14.9% compared to the same period last year, the revenue increased by 15.7%, indicating potential for growth in the sector.
