Addis Ababa (Ethiopia Today) May 5, 2023: Today marked the inauguration of an expansion project that saw the Ethiopian Airlines-owned hospitality establishment, Skylight Hotel, raise its room number to 1000.
The hotel complex is three times larger than the country’s luxurious and largest hospitality establishment, Sheraton Addis Hotel, which has less than 300 rooms.
The hotel’s inaugural ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD), Mamo Mihretu, governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia, and Mesfin Tassew, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, among many other high-level officials and businesspeople.
Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest and most profitable airline, spent 155 million USD on the expansion project.
The hotel, which opened in 2019 and has 373 rooms, is located just five minutes from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
The first phase of the project consumed 65 USD in investment.
