Addis Ababa (Ethiopia Today), April 9, 2023: The Petroleum and Energy Authority instructed all fuel companies in a letter to instruct their gas stations to begin selling fuel through the platform and fully implement it until the date set by the authority.
The Authority has made a crucial announcement that, starting on April 24, fuel trading in Addis Ababa and its surroundings will be done entirely through electronic payment methods. The move is aimed at creating a transparent and efficient fuel trading system.
All gas stations and fuel companies in the capital have been reminded to make the necessary arrangements for the implementation of electronic payment for fuel transactions.
The authorities have discussed the action plan with the stakeholders in Addis Ababa to ensure that all businesses have a common understanding of the operation.
It is important to note that this is not a voluntary measure. The implementation of electronic payment for fuel transactions will be mandatory nationwide starting July 8. This means that gas stations and fuel companies outside Addis Ababa and its surrounding cities will also have to comply with the new regulations.
