Addis Ababa (Ethiopia Today), April 8, 2023: The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), in partnership with Golden Coffee Roastery PLC, has launched a CashGo international remittance service application.
During the launching ceremony yesterday, the Bank’s president, Abe Sano, said that this application helps Ethiopians send money easily to their families, friends, and relatives swiftly using their cell phones. EPA reports.
Ethiopians can send and receive money easily from countries such as Canada, Israel, America, Italy, South Africa, Sweden, the UAE, England, and Saudi Arabia via MasterCard and Visa cards.
“The black market has severely impacted the availability of foreign currency,” Abe added. Moreover, customers can easily access their money via 1,850 branches across the country with a 10 percent bonus until the next month, he noted.
He also stated that this mobile app would be of paramount importance for the development of the country. He said, adding that this state of the art can be easily downloaded from the App Store and Play Store.
CashGo CEO Tewodros Shiferaw said that this app will save extra service fees that would be paid to foreign remittance offering agents such as World Remit, Western Union, and the like.
The CEO further stated that these branding apps, CashGo and Ethio Direct, were developed by Ethiopian experts. “This application really helps increase the revenue earned from remittances, curbs the hard currency shortage, and it also enhances the national economy.”
Clients from the above mentioned countries could send their money staring from 5 up to 1,000 USD at a time with zero percent charge. So far, some 50,000 users accessed their account using this bold app, it was learnt.
