Addis Ababa( Ethiopia Today) March 29, 2023: Heavy rain killed one person and damaged property in Dire Dawa City, which is 452 km from the capital, last night, according to the city police commission.
As informed by the Dire Dawa city police, a 55-year-old man who was sleeping in the flood sand from the area known as Afat-Isa or Sand Selbaj was found dead in the flood accident at Kebele 07 district.
The Selbaj clothing store was also damaged by the flood.
The police said that the 55-year-old man was a day laborer in the area and managed himself and his family.
The body was sent to Dalchoura Referral Hospital for further investigation.
Meteorological forecast data indicates that normal and above-normal rains may occur from March 7 to the end of March.
It was recalled that on March 18, 2015, at about nine o’clock in the afternoon (Kebele 09), a boar entered the house of an individual in the area called “Gende Gemchu” and caused serious injuries to the owner of the house.
Currently, the person is undergoing treatment at Dilchora Refera Hospital, and the police have urged the members of the community living in the suburbs of Dredawa to take appropriate precaution.
