Addis Ababa (Ethiopia Today), March 28, 2023: One trillion birr is needed to complete the road projects started in Ethiopia, said the premier while addressing the parliament today.
There are currently 320 projects in the road sector in Ethiopia.
“There will be more asphalted roads than Ethiopia has ever built in five years.” He adds.
The Prime Minister said that there is not a single road zone in the country that is not excavated. He said that this indicates that the government is doing extensive work on the road. He also explained that this work can be accelerated or delayed depending on the situation. He also stated that the bridge that started in Bahir Dar is different from the bridges built in Ethiopia so far, whether in terms of price or design. adding that the bridge is nearing completion.
The Prime Minister stated that many roads have been started and are progressing well, but pointed out that there are limitations.
“The issue of compensation is becoming a big challenge in relation to road construction, the government has paid 20 billion birr for compensation this year alone.” Abiy Adds.
