Addis Ababa ( Ethiopia Today) February 24,2023:- The Crop Science Society of Ethiopia (CSSE) honors Dr. Bedada Girma and Dr. Kebebew Assefa with lifetime recognition awards for their professional contributions to crop science.
During its 19th Biennial Conference, CSSE distinguished Dr. Bedada Girma and Dr. Kebebew Assefa with lifetime recognition awards for their professional contributions to crop science research and development as well as their editorial contributions to the publication of the Crop Science Journal of Ethiopia.
It was mentioned that Dr. Bedada Girma has made an immense contribution in coordinating the Ethiopian part of the globally initiated Durable Rust Resistance in Wheat (DRRW) and Durable Genetic Gain in Wheat (DGGW) projects, which were coordinated by Cornell University.
He received one national and one international lifelong award in recognition of his leadership and efforts to reach out to wheat farmers with better varieties and knowledge-based interventions to enhance their standard of living.
Dr. Kebebew Assefa has made a substantial contribution to the tef research and development program and the promotion of tef-based technologies to farmers with improved varieties and knowledge-based interventions to change their livelihood. He was awarded a higher honorary Laureate in the Category of Lifetime Agricultural Researcher in the Improvement of the Ethiopian Cereal Tef (Social Service Award) for the Year 2019, the Abyssinia Award, and the International Award.
